DogStar - MaLLy

well start all the way at the beginning we we gotta know we want to know uh were you born in minnesota or how did you become a minnesotan artist

Yes.

So

born by blood.

It's your birthright.

Yes, sir.

Yes, sir.

Born and raised.

Born and raised Minneapolis, 86, turned 40 this year.

So, yeah, I've been here my whole life, born and raised.

But initially, my family migrated from Tennessee, Memphis specifically, to the Twin Cities back in the early 80s, late 70s, early 80s.

And then, you know.

A few years after that, after my mom left the military, had me, yeah, I was born in HCMC on a Friday, 8.40 in the morning.

I know all the particulars.

Yeah, I read my birth certificate.

What was

playing on the radio in the hospital? No, we would like to know, yeah, did your mom have good music taste or what was music like growing up?

Yeah, music growing up in the house, a lot of the classics that you can think of, you know, I could reference back to, for me, I'll say some outliers in comparison to what other people may talk about, but a lot of similarities.

So Jackson 5, Michael Jackson as a solo artist, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke.

And then some of the outliers, I guess, would be for us would be like a George Michael song.

A Terrence Trent Darby.

He has an album called Introducing a Hard Line of Terrence Trent Darby.

So folks who may not know, he's got classic songs like Wishing Well, Sign Your Name.

So yeah, if you check that record out, it's from 87.

So that's how far that record goes back.
