You haven't opened it yet, but you've got a good idea of what's in it, and you know that once you read it, you'll be typing a reply before you even get to the finish.

She wrote From Chaos to Connection, and she hosts the Emotionally Intelligent Parenting podcast.

Now, I invited Stephanie on to talk about raising emotionally intelligent children.

That's her work, and that's what I thought we were going to talk about, but Steph and I had a great chat, and we do get to the children a little bit today, but the conversation kept turning us back to what emotional intelligence looks like for us on the days when we feel like we don't have any and when we're going through a really hard thing, when your life is on fire and you don't even have a word for how you're feeling.

Next week we'll talk much more about how to help your children be more emotionally intelligent.

Today we talk about what emotional intelligence is, why empathy without boundaries doesn't help anyone, and why the ability to pause before you respond is worth more in a separation than almost anything else that you can learn.

[upbeat music] I'm Carolyn Tate, founder of Women's Divorce Academy and your guide to turning a divorce into the best thing that ever happened to you.
