**The 2026/27 Premier League season is finally here, and Manchester United have started it with an absolute disaster class.** In this short 20ish-minute reaction episode, Joe breaks down the shocking…
Hello, everybody, and welcome back to Devils in the Box.
And if you are a rival fan or a friend of mine who likes to see me in much pain, today's episode, I'm sure, will be the episode for you.
Of course, I am unfortunately in some saturated pain because Manchester United have been mauled by the Tigers and have lost their opening game of 2026 to 2027 season.
And to be honest, I'm extremely disappointed and embarrassed by the results of the opening day.
It just was a very, very simple reality.
And I can explain that reality to you right now.
Hull City are a promoted side who haven't been to the Premier League in about nine years.
They are a side who know the entire Premier League are going to be watching them as they will be playing Manchester United at 12.30 on a Saturday, the first game of the day.
They're going to be at home for this game, so they're going to be hyped.
It's their first home game of the season.
Manchester United knew all of these facts, knew how much this game would mean to them, knew that this would be an FA Cup final game for them, and still did not put in the effort to match... and that is on manchester united that is on michael carrick that's on the entire players that's on the coaching staff they should have been perfectly aware of what kind of game this was going to be and yet we saw they didn't win enough duels they didn't do enough you know enough running they didn't match them in terms of tempo and they didn't control the game and they made sloppy mistakes in possession that constantly cost them the momentum of their attacks didn't break down team when they needed to running theme over the last few years still struggling to break down a team and yes this team wasn't really in a back five they were in a back six so yes we understand it's going to be really really annoying to break them down especially in the second half of the game where they're perfectly happy to defend the lead but you've put yourself in this position through poor defending and that has led to the game being what it is So to be honest, there are various different criticisms I have of this game, but I'm not going to go too crazy and do a massive episode on it.
But I do want to pick a few things apart and I'll try and finalize on what very few positives I have from this game to go through.
And I can tell you now there aren't many.
So we'll just dive straight into it.
