Ep. 169: Everything Eli Ate in Spain, and a Brass Monkey Pastry-Palooza

All right, so I've been out of the loop a little bit, but I saw some incredible footage of the FanFest that's been happening with the World Cup going on.

You have to like get dropped off at the top, not the bottom, like the Kelly Drive side.

Oh, okay.

But it's great.

Like when they were talking about it and describing it, they called it Philly Coachella and it really is.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Um, when you walk in, there's like massive activations.

There's, um, if you're watching the games, have you seen the commercials with, uh, David Beckham, the Home Depot ones where he's building out his own backyard?

I have not seen that.

So, you know, David Beckham is building out his backyard.

Um, so they have David Beckham's backyard where you can watch the game in this like whole backyard setting.

And

I guess the Home Depot sponsored that.

Yeah.

That's cool.

Massive.

I mean, it's like the size of a house.

There's a Visit Pennsylvania one with lots of interactive games.

The Union is there with some shot on goals.

And then, oh, I had this really great moment.

They have like a blow up.

field pitch for kids to play on.

And as we were walking through, I see these like three dudes, I'm going to say they're in their like late twenties, um, getting really excited.

And I was like, I'm going to go walk over there and see what this is about.

And then, uh, the kids that were on the field, their game wrapped up.

And then suddenly five, 10 guys walk into the field.

And it was the day before the Iraq France game.

And there was a group of fans from Iraq and a group of friends, uh, bands from France.

Um, and they played against each other.

Oh, adults

in a

small, small mini version, like had to take off their shoes.

Cause that was the rules.

And it was this great game.

And there was like so much hugging and friendship and like brotherly love.

Um, and I posted a little video about it.

And then one of the dudes who was in the game reached out to me and he's like, yo, I'm an influencer from Iraq.

But there's some local food there too.

The line was like 300 plus people.

That's crazy.

And so here's what I justified.

Okay.

You want to

explain? It's a free charm bracelet where you get to pick five or six charms.

They look like nice charms.

Like you can put like 250.

The governor was there and he got like 250 and like the Liberty Bell.

But they're like nice.

They look like they're nice metal charms.

Yeah.

Genius.

Bank of America is doing it.

They're giving these away.

They made unique charms to each city.

And those are the ones you can get custom.

And you can also get like a flag of a country, letters, numbers.

The line was massive.

But I figured...

Get there

early.

FanFest? Well, I'm going to throw that for one second.

FanFest is so big, like you could spend a whole day there.

You could spend like... eight plus hours there.

I get it.

So just like when you get on the shore and you wait in line for 90 minutes for ice cream, like I understand waiting in line for these bracelets, if it's all you're going to

do, but

it's caught on.

And now when you get there, they give you a wristband and then you have a certain hour that you're allowed to be in line.

And then, so they're trying to keep it moving.

Cause it's literally just this huge line that's right in front of the doorway.

Um, but hack that I saw on Instagram, I haven't tried it yet.

I think you can just walk into a Bank of America store and they have bracelets.

They're not

custom, but you may be able to get them.

So we'll see if that's real or not.
