So, um, anticipatory grief is something that often starts at the time, you know, something changes in your life.

Like if you have a loved one who receives a diagnosis, um, or sometimes at the first significant decline of our loved one, um, who has received a diagnosis, a terminal diagnosis.


And when we start to see things happening or you get that diagnosis or you start to see their decline, that's what anticipatory grief is.

And there's a misconception that if you experience anticipatory grief, you're kind of preparing yourself for the loss.

I've been grieving this, but nothing prepares you for the actual physical loss of that person.

And that's a completely different kind of grief that we're not really prepared for just because we've had these anticipatory things that are showing up.

So there's a lot of things that go into the anticipatory grief as far as the things that bring it on.

But it's typically anytime you're anticipating, and that's typically going to be when someone's had a a terminal illness.
