So I'm going to start with one that I was dealing with today, and it's something that has come up, I'm going to say, five times in the last couple of years, where in the estate administration context, we discover that assets were not retitled after a divorce.

I've come across deeds that have a former spouse that was, they were divorced maybe 25 years ago.

We've had actually in the same estate joint accounts where the spouses were still on a joint account that was really used as an operating account for an apartment unit.

So I've come across beneficiary designations on life insurance and on stock accounts, brokerage accounts, which I will say there is a statute.

And there's, I think, an argument that this statute doesn't or shouldn't apply to designations that were made prior to.

Now, I'm not going to give an opinion on that because it depends what side of the coin you're on as to whether or not you would want that rule to apply.

But It's interesting because I don't know that this is true, but what I suspect is that this happens when there is an amicable divorce.

I don't know a lot about divorces, but what I do know is my partner does divorce work and his office is right across the hall from me.

And there's a lot more shouting coming from his office than there is from my office, or maybe not shouting, but trying to calm people down.
