We've worked on that process where calf rearing actually starts before the calf is actually born and it's important how that cow goes through her transition and obviously her early transition for that calf.

And it is interesting because it is one of the things that both you and Stacey have talked about before is the importance of that transition and nutrition for the late pregnancy cow.

And well, I guess it starts way back earlier than that, but you know how well she's grown, all of those things to ensure a good calf.

Yeah, and even for her colostrum generation, that's kicking off five weeks before she's calving as well.

So if the cow's not in good body condition or if she's stressed, it's taking away protein and energy from the calf, the growing calf, but also extra protein that's needed for that colostrum generation as well.
