What does it feel like to ride through a vineyard and actually understand what's in the glass waiting at the end? That's the thread running through this conversation—and two guests who live at the…
James StarttHostMolly HurfordHostI'm cycling journalist Molly Hereford, and today my co-host, Ngamba creative director and award-winning cycling photographer James Start and I are joined by two incredible guests.
We have North America's sommelier of the year, multi-time sommelier of the year, Aldo Somm.
And we also have Brian Nygaard, who is an amazing cycling journalist, a winemaker, a philosophy major, pretty much everything from cycling to wine.
And we're bringing really the culture of cycling and wine together in this episode.

Well, firstly, I'm really excited about this episode because it just defines everything that we are.

When I joined Ngamba, what attracted me most was this combination of cycling in these great destinations and enjoying all the culture around it, be it the food, the drink, the art, whatever.

I've known Brian forever because he was, uh, uh, a press officer for many years.

And that's where we met, um, in the trenches as you will, but we've been friends ever since.

And he's, uh, um, He's morphed into a journalist for some of the – one of the most historic Danish newspapers.

And then, of course, having the chance to sit down with Aldo, who is a living legend.

And it gave me a chance to read his books and to reflect a little bit more on how he chooses wine and how – I learned so much reading his books about, you know, how wine is so dependent on what you're eating it with and things like that.

And, you know, the chance that, you know, fortunately, he's a longtime friend of Ngamba's.

So we have this, you know, it was just such a no brainer to bring these guys together.
And I mean, bringing together this idea of the wine you drink, the roads you ride, the bikes you ride, I think it really does lend itself to this is what Ngamba is, right? We're not a touring company that focuses just on climbing up the hill at the fastest rate possible.
