I am happy that there will be people who follow me in academia that can look to this act and, through the coalition, hear more about it because, quite frankly, up until maybe five, six years ago, if you had said Bayh-Dole coalition, I wouldn't have known 100% what we were talking about.

Joining us today to explain all of this is Joseph Allen, the Executive Director of the Bayh-Dole Coalition, and Robert Daniels, who earned his PhD in chemistry from Johns Hopkins and is a recipient of one of the Coalition's American Innovator Awards.

We were up on Capitol Hill and we had teams visiting different Capitol Hill staffers.

And Bob and I were on a team and Bob had just described to a staffer how his technology worked.

And out of nowhere, he said, I just realized this man pointing at Bob saved my father's life.
