Joe GonzalesGuestCameron RogersHostToday, we are talking about fatherhood, and we talk a lot about motherhood, mental health, the intersection of the two on this show, but we haven't actually had an episode focused on mental health or community or, like, needs of around fatherhood.
So today we are joined by Joe Gonzalez, who is the founder of the Brooklyn Stroll Club.
I don't know if you have seen them on social media, but I feel like they are having a big moment, and I came across them.
Carly, my producer, was like, "We should do an episode on this," and I love it because I do think there is such a need for community and discussion and a safe space for men especially to be vulnerable around fatherhood, and that is what Joe is, like, set on creating and has created.
So in today's episode, we talk about his journey into fatherhood, why and how he founded Brooklyn Stroll Club, what he's seeing with all of these new fathers and, like, what they're talking about, um, changes around present fathers in our generation versus what we've seen in the past, and how to really best support your partner.
We definitely assume heterosexual relationships in this conversation because h- we are both in one, and that was just kind of where the conversation went.
I realize obviously that is not the norm for every single listener or every single relationship out there, but given that that's our experience, that's kind of how we handled this conversation, and I think it's a really insightful look into the mental health aspect of new fatherhood and kind of what they're experiencing and also what they need.
And I think that so much has been focused recently on the mom, which is wildly important, and we need more focus, and we also need to provide space and some focus for the father as well.
Also, I know a lot of you share some episodes with your husbands, which I'm honored and I love, and I think this is definitely one that you should pass along.
It's a quick listen, so, you know, get them involved in Conversations with Cam land.
