Send us Fan Mail With my guest Jeremy Cordon of Goldbacks, we touch on gold in ancient and medieval history, but then fast forward to the Gold…
Where I wanted to begin was of all the avenues to pursue in both, if you will, professional or historical studies, how did gold become your focus?
I kind of got sucked into being interested in the gold world by Ron Paul back in 2011.
Still going to university, trying to figure out what I wanted to do, but I was just fascinated by the Ron Paul campaign and I ended up being a delegate for him.
What he talked a lot about was precious metal in the context of the gold standard.
And I remember thinking it was just really interesting, the consequences of going off that standard.
And we're going to be talking a little bit more about the gold standard and kind of what that has meant in U.S. history.
Who were among some of the first civilizations to use gold as their currency of choice?
uh you know at this point we're kind of talking about the bronze age but it was around 600 bc that coins were first invented and within just a couple hundred years they dominated all over the mediterranean were traded everywhere
