Complex PTSD Recovery [on Spotify] : We Are Traumatized Motherfuckers
Sep 24, 2026 · 3 min · 1 segments
After talking mad shit, we do need to acknowledge the necessity of the "self." Make it a good one. Bottoms-up.
Well, after all the shit-talking on the lowercase s self, this is awkward.
You do still gotta have one, because the small s self is you on Earth, and that's where you currently are.
It's material reality, and you are encased in material.
So there must be an identity, and you have to be separate from others because you are.
We need a small-s self to be safe.
There are rules to reality, socially, survivally.
The problem is, many of us were given too many, or they were too definite, or too punitive.
And over time, those rules become maladaptive self-limitations that stop us from living freely and often force us to be people we're not.
That is where the big S self comes in.
We need the small S self, but we want to create it from the inner big S self.
When the big S self inspires action, it dictates who you show up as.
So the outer image reflects what's shifting inside, creating alignment, as we call it, inner experience into outer action.
So, yes, the big S self directs the whole show, but the small S self has to perform it on stage.
And when it works in this direction, bottoms up from big-ass self to small-ass self, so that both exist, rather than small-ass self, self-limitations, top-down, we get a closed self-circuit, which expands rather than represses who you are allowed to be.
So yeah, you need a small S self and ego and identity.
But remember, make it your self.
With a big S.
Inside out.
Energy to action.
Bottoms.
