10-06-26 Community Focus- Lakes Area United Way

We are but a week away, a week and a day away from the annual chili cook-off and things are heating up and getting spicy right about now.

Are you guys ready for this? Yes, we are so excited.

Wednesday, October 14th from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Northern Pacific Center.

Join us for our annual chili cook-off.

This year's theme, we have our community heroes.

So we're honoring those who serve our community every day.

That's military members, law enforcement, officers, firefighters, EMTs, you know, anything that fits that category of serving our community.

I was

thinking people could really go crazy with this.

We know the obvious ones, but I'm guessing there are some people getting really creative out there that may have, you know, that are thinking of others that we don't just generally right off the bat think about.

So this could take a lot of fun.

So you're looking for teams to put together and decorate a booth, put their chili together and really come out swinging on this.

Yes.

The more creative, the better.

So, yeah, we are so excited to see what people have for different booths.

We're excited to see what people come up with.

So, yeah.

Okay.

So we put together a chili recipe.

We get it out there.

We do the thing.

This is a whole judging thing as well.

So not only are we looking for people's choice in the chili, but what else are being judged? What are people looking for? Right.

Mm-hmm.

So we have the Best Chili Awards for corporate, nonprofit, and restaurant divisions, along with a Community Choice Award and a Best Costume slash Booth Award.
