Living out of a backpack at an Airbnb has made me realize how little we need to survive. It’s also enlightening to step away from the majority of our physical items to be able to reflect on how many…
I will be honest with you.
I do not want to be negative because I am well aware that we are fortunate to be traveling.
So just please don't take it the wrong way that I'm even going to say something negative.
I know we're lucky to travel, but our last destination was a disaster.
It was really nice.
It was one of our nicest Airbnbs.
And that was sort of the silver lining in the whole thing because we did have a really nice space to go back to after our adventures that I will tell you about.
but um yeah we had a table that fit our family of six we could all fit there we had an extra bedroom than what we've been used to so everyone was a little more comfortable but um we tried taking these day trips because there was nothing really to do in Pop Rad the city is really small it's like a little town and then everything was under construction and hard to navigate or close down so really the only way to explore that area or the surrounding areas was to take these day trips and we had this experience for three days straight where things just kept going wrong like little things like for example we'd be at a store they charged our credit card a But then they said it didn't work.
And then on my end, I could see that the charge went through.
And then we'd be like having this conversation in Slovakian with like using a Google translator chat GBT to help us try to explain like.
Little things that on their own are not a big deal, but when you're having an experience where like you have one of those and then you go to do the next thing and you have another challenge and then another challenge and then by the end of the day you look back and you're like, wow, like nothing really went smoothly.
You know what I'm talking about? That was how it was for three days straight in Pop Rad.
And we finally, on our fourth day, just decided not to go anywhere.
We just did a little bit of homeschooling and decompressed and said, hey, you know what? It's just not in our favor right now to try to go exploring.
Let's just stay put.
And you never know why that's happening.
If you look big picture, you could say maybe there's a reason or something.
Maybe the energy at large was trying to redirect us or protect us or change the course of our path.
I don't know.
All I know is that our time in Pop Rad was the low point of the trip so far where we were just like, wow, this has not been enjoyable.
And We loved the mountains and the scenery and had some very beautiful views and really tried to make the best of it.
But when we are honest about how the days felt, we would say it was not the best part of our trip so far.
So I guess that's part of traveling.
You do run into some challenges and that's important, I think, for our kids to see too, that just because you're on this quote unquote great adventure and you're going to have great pictures and you're going to have great memories and people are going to say, wow, you're so lucky.
I will be honest with you.
