Ps Karolina Grant - The Human Experience

He's the promised one who Jesus was going to come through, but he starts out as the unloved youngest son of a man named Jesse.

They say he was an illegitimate son and they say that he was scorned by his brothers.

And so he was probably just overlooked for just about everything.

And the nation of Israel has this king named Saul and Saul isn't pleasing the Lord.

Saul turns his back on the Lord and gets prideful and narcissistic and psychotic.

And so the Lord goes looking for another king and he asks the prophet Samuel to go to Jesse's house.

And Jesse's like, yeah, I've got plenty of sons.

And so he lines up all of his sons except his youngest son, David.

And Samuel's like, nope, nope, nope, nope.

And he gets through all of them and goes, have you got any more sons? And he goes, actually, I do.

He's out in the shepherd's field.

I was sure it wouldn't be him, but go and get him.

And guess what? It was David.

And so David gets anointed as king at a very young age, but then he gets sent back into the field and nothing happens for a really long time.

And then we see him.

He's an incredible musician.

And somehow news of that gets to the palace to the crazy King Saul, who is having fits of insanity.

And so he asks for a musician to come and play to soothe his nerves.

And so David gets called in.

Who knows you can't stop the will of God.

Who knows you can be in the back of the mountains and the Lord is still going to find you and put you where you need to be.

I just tell you that I have taken so much courage from that.

Obscurity is where God does His best work.

You cannot hide from God's will on your life.

And so he ends up there and he's in and out of the field and the palace and he's playing the harp for the king and he's minding his dad's sheep.
