Ps Karolina Grant - Hold Your Form

The first thing I see is, well, probably not the first, but it's very, very strong, is that David teaches me, Carolina, don't be precious.

Don't be precious.

There are many people who challenge David's leadership and he remained humble.

I learned from him not to be precious.

He was anointed as king when he was a young boy.

The prophet Samuel came and he was anointed in his early teen years.

He's anointed as king.

He actually has been overlooked by his family his whole life.

Samuel has to call for him because he's like, it doesn't make sense.

The Lord sent me to Jesse's house and I'm standing in front of Jesse's sons and God's going, no, no, no, no.

And he's like, is there another? And they're like, oh yeah, well, there's David.

And so he calls David in from the sheepfold and God says to Samuel, that's him.

And so he anoints David in front of his brothers, in front of his father.

But do you know what? He didn't go straight to the throne.

In fact, he went back to the sheep for a really long time.

And so he'd been anointed, but he didn't have the throne.

The one who was sitting on the throne was a king named Saul who became narcissistic and insecure and schizophrenic and psychotic because the Spirit of the Lord left him when he started acting in pride and self-orientation.

And so that is actually who's sitting on the throne.

And so David is in the sheepfold anointed as king.

Saul, who is an ungodly king, is sitting on the throne and David is not precious.

He's not precious.

But probably what's more profound to me is what we see later in his life.

Actually, Josh, could we please put that timeline back up? Later in his life, just here, we see that his own son, this is now David in the throne.

He is the king.

His own son causes an uprising against him.
