146. When To Consider A System Upgrade

It's the age-old question, the age-old struggle, all of that.

When do I get my new shiny toy? When do I need my new toy? Obviously, we're not talking about toys.

We're talking about practical tools and things that are needed for ministry.

And things have changed in ministry and continue to change.

um you know we've talked before about um you know style of worship and you know going back to when it was spoken word and coral and acoustic piano and organ you know and all that to uh how things are different now with the um you know for lack of a better term, kind of the rock and roll style of my generation, if you will, coming into play and entering the space.

But more than that, it's a wide variety genre of music.

Contemporary music today kind of To me, it feels like pop music, feels like country music at times, which is surprising.

But fair and so forth.

But there's such a plethora.

How's that of instruments now? It's not just voice, piano and choir.

And so with that, you know, the speaker system, as we're going to talk about today, has much different requirements.

So, you know, style is one of the first things, but there are many other things that, you know, go in to, you know, needing a new sound system.

I've talked before on the podcast about my friend, James.

I was going to say James Attaway.

Because I said James – I'm sorry, Mr. Jeff Abbott, that I confused you with James Attaway.

I will never do that again.

No, my friend James – James, I did it again.

My friend Jeff Abbott who said – Every piece of equipment has an expiration date.

And that's how he would budget.

I thought that was just very wise of, okay, I am buying this piece of equipment.

And yes, today, this is the best we can do with what we have.

But...

in 10 years from now, it will need to be replaced.

Or maybe if you're stretching something out, 20 years.

And things will last longer than their expiration date, but are they serving the purpose? So does
