This is a game that I am quite a fan of.

Very short game, but great for our conceptualization training.

Lots of fascinating things occur in it.

I looked up if we'd done this on the podcast before, and it did come out as a game exercise a couple of months ago, so some of it might seem familiar.

But the game's so good, I think it's worth doing again.

All right.

As always, with these walkthrough episodes, I'm gonna work through the game move by move.

We're gonna talk about some dormant ideas or four things, or whatever is happening here.

This one's a great one for vacated squares in particular, so we'll put a bit of extra attention there, as it's such a key issue for so many players.

That, that little bit of attention, uh, going not just to where the piece is now, but where it used to be, and what it means if it's not there anymore, is, uh, so many...

A huge percentage of adult improvers [chuckles] would, uh, yeah, be in a good spot to jump rating, uh, if they could resolve issues with vacated squares.

So, that's gonna be our key focus here.

A little bit of dormant stuff, but mostly vacated squares.

As we go through the game, with any of this stuff, um, follow along, answer the questions, focus on understanding what's happening in the game, and try to let your brain work out how it wants to do it, whether it wants to see pictures, whether it wants to use logic, whether it wants to work out square colors and work out, work things out from there.

Whatever your brain wants to do is totally fine.

The key is to put it in situations where it has to do something, and lean into whatever it comes up with as it starts to find its feet.

This game, yeah, is a bit, it's a bit nuts.

I, uh, I am a fan of, uh, this game in particular.

This game is Silberman versus Honitsch, uh, I believe it's pronounced, at Czernowitz in 1930, and, uh, just a bit of fun.

Clearly, uh, one of these players, a bit stronger than the other one, as you'll see as it plays out, but that's kind of the case with any really short game.

Uh, but it's really interesting, the particular trouble they get into along the way.
