You know how to lose weight. You know how to gain it back. But has anyone ever taught you how to maintain it? In this episode I break down why chronic dieters get stuck in a rinse-and-repeat cycle of…
so diets are a set of rules they tell you what to do what to think what to feel or like not to feel and they give you say you need to do this and if you are a robot and you program that diet into your head and then you physically do the same do the things that they tell you to do you eat the calories you eat the sins you eat the mashed banana and you do that, it spits you out the other side at, well, it should spit you out the other side at a goal weight that you want to be.
That you think, right, I'm going to be living my life really well at this goal weight.
I'm going to look great.
I'm going to be really confident.
I'm going to be fantastic.
That is what a diet is.
It's a set of rules.
It is purely a set of rules that you follow.
And it can come in lots of different guises.
Like I've said before, calorie counting is a diet.
Obviously you've got the Slimming World, the Weight Watchers of the World, you've got the Atkins diet, you've got the cabbage soup diet.
You've got all those.
And you've also now got the GLP-1 diet as well.
They see them on my Instagram page, what I ate in a day on GLP-1.
Unhelpful for your relationship with food, go away.
But that is in itself a diet as well, because again, oh, I'm eating this, I should eat this.
That's a diet.
And some people have...
Generally, I meet quite a lot of people who are like, yeah, I've lost like three or four stone on Slimming World.
Okay, well, then what happened? It didn't work anymore.
Right, okay.
So the thing with diets is... and diet culture if diets were like fantastic and they got people to their ideal weight and then people were living their life for their ideal weight that they wanted to be diets wouldn't be profitable they wouldn't be a thing anymore they wouldn't be a market and they wouldn't be businesses around them And diet culture would slowly die a very slow death because everyone would be the ideal weight that it wants us to fit into for us to be this small and for us to live life like that.
But they don't.
They don't do that.
