Tracking your calories. Weighing your oats. Taking a photo of yourself in your underwear for a stranger on the internet. All incredibly common. None of it normal. In this episode I unpick why the…
First one was a client who I am seeing one-to-one and she... is four months into her one-to-one journey with me and she goes to and has been going to quite a heavily aesthetic orientated gym um is quite focused on aesthetics what you look like and she talked to some people there and they are basically a previous version of her And she can see it so clearly.
And they're doing the same things that she used to do.
And they're doing, they're thinking the same, they're training the same, they're eating the same, they're focusing on the same things.
And now she's in the journey with me and she's doing so, so well.
She's just like, I can't believe that I was so deep in it.
I didn't know.
And that's the thing, when people are in it, they don't know.
They don't know how wrapped up in diet culture their thoughts and feelings are, how they eat, why they eat, what they eat, how they track their food, how they do their macros and how common it is.
I know how normalized it is to be doing those things because it is common, doesn't mean it's normal.
And she's almost like coaching them and being like, oh, I can't believe.
She's like, she wants to just save them time.
She's like, right, you're going to have like some sort of breakdown.
You're going to have some sort of like moment of realization.
You're going to have some sort of like, I can't continue with this lifestyle anymore moment.
And then you're going to come and find Cara.
She's like, just come and find Cara straight away.
I'm like, keep preaching, keep preaching.
Because in that environment, it is so normalized.
It's common and it's very normalized.
However, it is not normal.
And the second part of this was just a conversation, just a normal conversation with one of my friends who I've known for donkey's years.
We're getting like, you know when you're getting older and you're like, oh, I've been friends with this person for like 20 years.
You're like, 20 years? I'm only 21.
I've been friends with them for 20 years.
We go back a long time.
