After taking a break over the summer, Chasing Perfection is back for another season. On this episode, we recap every we missed during the offseason: - The addition of Marine Dursus - Nykesha Sales…
Megan GauerHostI think the biggest thing that happened, if I remember correctly, last time we recorded, we had recorded in advance and done a roster breakdown assuming that they weren't gonna bring in anyone else.
So naturally, we recorded that, had it scheduled to go, and then, like, basically the day it dropped, they announced that Marine Darcis, a scoring guard out of France, had joined the team.
That was the one big position that they didn't have an obvious answer to replace Azzi Fudd.
I think my favorite part of that stat is Jana Elalfy is in, going into her fifth year at UConn and is younger than a freshman.
Experience, I, I think we've seen that those European players generally step in and are pretty good right away.
Like, is this someone that is gonna be a nice little piece for them? Is this someone that is going to be a day one starter and impact player? Or is this just someone that gets to be a trivia question in a few years? We, we didn't get to see her during the open practice because she was dealing with a, what sounded like a pretty minor foot injury that she was dealing with before she arrived on campus.
It makes sense to look to Europe, to someone who has a, a pretty good resume.

You don't really know exactly how she's going to contribute, but coming in as an international player and having that experience and, you know, being, as you said, 21, so just having a few more years under her belt, those players typically are able to contribute faster than, like, your average freshman.

Um, so she certainly has potential to, to be a big piece for this team, but regardless, it just gives them some more options at the position as they try to figure out how to replace Azzi Fudd.
Ashlynn Shade, I kinda feel like we know what she can do, and that's a good thing and a bad thing.
