You mentioned the American Academy of Dermatology just came out with some new recommendations directed specifically for children.

first of all, we're super excited that it's out because it's the first time that the AAD has done this guideline specifically for pediatrics.

I think a way to look at these guidelines is kind of like two or four pilars of information that we can implement.

One is kind of like what is like a good routine of skincare that is needed for a kid that has atopic dermatitis.

So kind of like focus on preventing barrier disruption and helping maintain the barrier healthy.

Number two is what are the topical medications that we have available when the setting provides that we have to use those.

Number three is the newer medications that are available beyond topical steroids.

And more importantly for us is to teach pediatricians when the patient needs to be referred.

Because I think we all have seen with Emily and all of our providers here at Children's Colorado, We unfortunately get to see a lot of patients that come with severe disease, eczema head to toe, where our thoughts are like, why are you not here like several years ago? Why were you referred when you are so severely affected, where we can actually change the course of disease and your quality of life much earlier in life?
