C30 Actual Play, part three

Nevertheless, we have some travails ahead of ourselves.

And speaking of travails, as promised, we did a little bit of downtime between last session and this session.

I'm going to reintroduce the audience to the concept of that and then summarize what we've done, and then get into the details.

After which, we'll jump into the session proper.

So downtime, when you are in between sessions, if you have a group that has the time and enthusiasm to want to do things that you just could not fit into a session, you can do downtime.

That can cover roles for things that might take days or weeks to plan out, or even text-based side scenes where a single character has an interaction with an NPC that they want to talk with, but for whom the discussion might be irrelevant to the main game or that might take up too much time, especially when you only have a limited amount of time, such as with this actual play that we are doing.

During this downtime, we did have a few things happen.

I revealed the plots of the various houses, went truly all out, and explained how every house has some interest in it, at least a sentence or two.

My understanding is that this made Jay's head explode, but nevertheless, he soldiered on and decided that he would tackle this.

Now, I've simplified it into a few basic problems.

Some fae do not want to see the two of them get together.

There's others that see this as an excuse to get them out of power or kill the Thallain shadow courtiers and even some Unseelie who would be present.

Because it turns out even fae can be jerks.

That's like a key thing about fae, is that, you know, fae are jerks.

Have you looked at the folklore?

And finally, there are some that do want to see the two get together, although their motivations and exact plans for what they want that getting together to look like are obscure or strange.

So Jay, would you kindly tell us what you managed to do about all of this during downtime? And then let me know whether there's any unresolved questions.

So I attempted to try and investigate House Aileel 'cause I heard they were plotting

And I made a roll.

I even used up all the XP that you gave us to make my, give myself as many dice as I could.

And them dice gods, they, they do not, they are fickle mistresses.

Didn't go over as well as I'd hoped.
