Vision: Seeing Beyond What You See | Dr Michael Maiden

There are more for you than against you.

In 2 Kings 6, this is a great story where that sentence comes from.

Let's read it together, verse 8.

The king of Syria was making war against Israel.

He consulted with his servants saying, my camp, my army will be in such and such a place.

So they were trying to strategically ambush Israel by going in places and waiting for them.

And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there.

So Elijah would get words of knowledge from God, saying, Warn the king not to go that way.

Then the king of Israel sent someone to the place of which the man of God had told him.

Thus he warned him.

he was watchful there not just once or twice so the king of israel actually made sure it was true and it was confirmed by his own other double witness therefore the heart of the king of syria was greatly troubled by this thing and he called his servants to them this would have been an intense meeting will you not show me which one of you is for the king of israel so he said one of you is a traitor a rat and so the room got kind of high in high intensity And one of the servants said, none of us, Lord, betrayed you, but Elijah, the prophet, is in Israel.

He tells the king of Israel the words you speak in your bedroom.

The king of Syria said, go and see where he is that I may send and get him.

And they told him, surely he lives in Dothan.

Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there.

And they came by night, the devil's always sneaky, and surrounded the city.

So to get one little bald prophet, they sent an entire army, chariots for the tanks of antiquity, this massive army to get this threat to them.

And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army surrounding the city with horses and chariots.

It might look like you're surrounded, but I'm surrounded by God.

And the servant ran into this house and said, alas, master, what shall we do? So this would have been a high fearful anxiety moment in this young man's life.

And Elijah cool as a cucumber said, do not fear for those that are with us are more than those that are with them.

It didn't seem like that.

But Elijah had insight.

Then Elijah really wanted his servant who was suffering under the oppression of fear, he wanted him to be free.

You're just one revelation away from freedom.

Elijah prayed and said, Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.

Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man and he saw, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire.

around Elijah.

This would be angelic armies hovering in the air above the Syrian army.

So we saw both of these things.
