- *Why do I feel lonely even when I'm never alone?* - *Why is it so hard to find people who actually get this season?* - *Will I always feel this disconnected, or can something actually change?* This…
So the first shift was from waiting to initiating.
With that previous example, I learned that the waiting was not really helping me at all.
The number one reason that you are feeling lonely or how it continues to persist is that everyone is waiting for someone else to go first.
So you are waiting for somebody else to go first.
Waiting to be invited, waiting to be checked on, waiting to be connected.
While you are waiting, nothing moves because loneliness is passive by nature.
It pulls you inward.
It tells you to wait.
It convinces you that reaching out is all too risky, that you must not...
You might not...
You shouldn't do that because you might be rejected or you'll come across as being too needy.
Possibly someone will be way more busier than you and they will not have time to talk.
So you wait.
The loneliness deepens and it doesn't ever go away.
Here is what I know to be true.
Every deep connection I have ever had or seen started with one person deciding to go first.
One text, one invitation, one honest question that is actually listened to when the answer is given.
A scripture I would like to share with you that really hones in on this is in Proverbs 18:24 and it reads, "A man," and I say a mama, "of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." And in this case we'll say maybe even a sister.
That friendship, that closeness just doesn't fall in your lap.
It is built with intention, one brave reach at a time.
Think of one person in your life right now who you could reach out to.
It doesn't have to be a big thing.
It could be a text, a, a quick phone call, even a voice text, which are just one of my favorites anyway.
But you could just be like, "Hey, I've been feeling kind of isolated and I just wanna grab some coffee or have a phone call with you.
You got some availability coming up?" And don't set the si- situation up where you're gonna reach out to a person that you know is gonna be like, "Oh my gosh, I'm so busy.
