The Left has had some success in recreating Columbus Day as Indigenous Peoples' Day.
They believe he disturbed a peaceful people called Indians because Columbus thought he was sailing for India.
In fact, Indian tribes had been fighting, killing, and scalping each other long before Columbus and his ships arrived in the Americas in 1492.
There's no doubt the Indians were treated badly, including some of their land being seized and treaties with the later American government violated.
What kind of country, though, would we have without the descendants of Columbus? American history has had its faults, slavery being among the worst, but we're the only nation to rectify those sins and press on to continue promoting the general welfare.
The Left wants to create an androgynous culture, blending race and sex into something the Founders, much less God, never intended.
Those individual contributions, like Columbus Day, should be celebrated, not replaced to satisfy the Left.
