Ep 72 How to Start This School Year Without Carrying It All and Staying in Your Lane Mona kicks off the new school year with reflections from a recent family cruise celebrating her parents’ 50th…
And I've been thinking a lot about parents and sending our kids back to school and how we can show up differently, maybe a little bit better this year, and how we can differentiate caring for our children and taking care of them and maybe their problems that they have in their life.
versus carrying their problems and getting anxious and reactive and managing our brain so it doesn't spiral out of control when it comes to our kids' issues.
We've been doing school shopping and we've bought new backpacks and new shoes and clothes and clothes all this stuff.
We have new schedules and as a nurse or a teacher, you have new class assignments or patient assignments.
And sometimes I think in the back of our mind, we think, okay, this year is a restart and I'm finally going to get things right.
And I want you to think how many times have you felt maybe exhausted by somebody else's life choices or somebody else's life and maybe not our own to-do list, but we have that and then added on top of it with another layer is somebody else's to-do list or somebody else's choices or our kids' grades or your patient's choices or your student's choices.
Even when it's hard, it comes from an authentic, intentional place where caring can quietly, steadily drain you.
So whether you are sending a kid back to school this year or walking into a new shift or a new classroom or even coaches coaching new clients, this episode is for you.
So I am going to try to give you seven signals where you're carrying has crossed that line into carrying with some real examples from parents, nurses, maybe some teachers.
