As more Fire Emblem info continues to drop, and Gamescom has a couple of neat announcements, we have a lot to talk about for August's News! But also, we do talk for 25 minutes straight about Uchikoshi…
We had a big direct going more into detail on the game and its mechanics, and I came off that really impressed with it all.
It's hard to say what it's going to be like at the end of the day, but it feels like they're going very ambitious with this one, right?
Yeah, I mean, when we had, and I might have mentioned this on the previous podcast, but when we had Engage come around, I wasn't really enthusiastic about it.
I was like, oh, great, it's an all-star thing, but I don't really care.
But this one, and I don't even think it's because it's in the Fodlan world.
I think it's just I really like the concepts.
Yeah.
This one does seem to have a lot of really interesting things.
I like all the new additions they're adding to the world, how the game system works, like the timer before each match, the tournament format, having all the different perspectives.
It's like...
There's a lot of stuff to look forward to in this, and the more they show off, I'm like, yeah, there's some very cool ideas they've introduced.
Some of them are strange in places, obviously, because they've taken a lot of leaps, but I think most of them have landed, enough for it to be well worth it.
Yeah, it definitely looks like they're adding a lot of mechanics.
There's a map you can explore to do different sections.
It weirdly reminds me of World of Light or something in a kind of way.
But to do different challenge battles and that, there's your usual building up your team, getting in training, focusing on certain stats and stuff.
I mean, the whole four routes thing, we sort of have a bit more details on where at the start of the game you can pick one, but you can also at any point switch between them on the same save file, which I'm very grateful for.
That seems like a smart way of doing it.
I don't know when will be the ideal times to switch between them, but I'm probably going to want to try them all at least a little bit.
So that makes sense to me, I think.
Yeah, that's a part of the game I'm very much looking forward to, is like, you don't have to...
I think this is the issue everyone had with Three Houses, right? Is you've got four different routes in the game, but the first half of the game is near identical.
And you're like, oh, I've just got to get through such a slog to get to the new stuff.
And this isn't having that issue.
