"You're only as sick as your secrets". 12 Step Groups
Francoise MastroianniHostAnd so when we speak into lies, you've probably heard the saying, you're only as sick as your secrets.
The lies you tell yourself and persuade others to believe will only turn around and hurt you one way or another.
It can be painful, humiliating, humbling, and scary to disclose and be vulnerable, especially if your partner is right, or when you know that confessing might mean taking a step backwards.
You're afraid that things are okay right now, and if I let her know that I just told a lie, it's going to set her backwards, and we're going to have to start at square one again.
Whereas so many partners I've talked with, they want the truth as hard as it is to hear.
And sometimes what we agree on is maybe a 15-minute discovery, sort of, I just told a lie and now I'm going to disclose.
But honestly, most partners want to know as soon as you are able to realize that, oh, wow, I just lied or I just had a slip and be able to let her know up front and have a set of consequences along with that.
That's got to mean something in terms of my recovery work, and so this is what I'm going to do about it.
I'm going to go to a couple more meetings this week because obviously I'm needing some extra help.
So it goes down something like that that you want to think about and keep in mind.
Remember that you are doing the right thing by owning up and telling her the truth.
It starts with being honest with yourself, others, and your Heavenly Father.
Don't buy into the lies that the evil one would want you to believe he was a murderer from the beginning he was always he always hated the truth because there is no truth in him when he lies he is caught consistent with his character for he is a liar and the father of lies that's quoted from john 8 44.
