This week, we take a hard look at Sony: what is going on with the PlayStation brand, and why are we in the middle of a collective existential crisis regarding its first-party direction, pricing, and…
Now, the embargo was lifted for reviews of this game earlier, prior to launch, and people were quite surprised, including myself, that a major first-party Sony PlayStation exclusive title received mediocre scores.
So overall, it was like a 70%, or 7 out of 10, a lot of reviewers were giving it.
For me, I wanted to go into it with an open mind, understanding the context of right now Sony's going through the mud where a lot of people are upset at PlayStation in regards to their stance on physical media.
And I think there was overall a lot of resentment with Sony subscription services as well, with the pricing of the PlayStation subscriptions like Premium, Extra and Essential.
So I also assumed that a lot of reviewers would either be biased towards that or also realize that.
A lot of people will be bombing their reviews because it's related to first party PlayStation.
fan of the spider-man games that insomniac made i did enjoy the traversal like the movement and just the actual core gameplay the fighting mechanics and stuff but i just saw the story as being corny and there was a lot of repetition in the open world which a lot of open worlds have so i i believe i've only finished the first spider-man game and i played a little bit of miles morales but i never played through spider-man 2 which i heard a lot of um Issues I had with the Spider-Man series were addressed into.
When I first saw the trailers for it, I was gung ho because if it seemed on paper, it seems like everything I wanted.
From the Spider-Man game, like a game that's focused on the fighting, less corny story and like like actual gore and blood, like more of a mature title playing it and a little bit more linear.
it does seem like a game similar to the other Spider-Man titles that a game that I can see down the road like in a year deep discount sale as well as possibly being put onto PlayStation Plus services whether it be extra premium or just essentials just down the road and I think as a like a freebie copy maybe maybe once the playstation 6 comes out um that would probably make sense um well let's start with some positives i do it definitely is a showcase of uh the playstation 5's uh power especially the playstation 5 pro um it looks amazing the graphics are spot on with all the bells and whistles, um, on the PlayStation five pro runs at 60 frames.
