Very well indeed, we are all in the right places today, nobody is rushing around anywhere.

I'm down in Dunedin for a couple of days, which I'm really looking forward to.

I'm just having a look at how they're managing, like all the climate change impacts that are happening in the Otago region at the moment.

And what their plans are for the future, such an interesting time with the regional councils being cancelled by the government and all of that institutional knowledge that is held by them will have to somehow be transferred over to whatever the new councils will look like.

Do you think that's a done deal? Is that going to go through even if there's a change of government?

Yeah, I was talking with some Labour folks a couple of weeks ago and they will continue, if Labour becomes the government, they'll continue with the reform, but they'll just slow it down a little bit because it's, It feels so violent the way that the government has forced this process and even just that constant looming threat of do it to yourselves or we're going to do it to you and without any proper what I would consider adequate community consultation.

I mean, when did anyone ask you what you thought of it, Sam? Most people in the country would say that they never got an opportunity to really engage in the process.

And if you ask most people who are elected into the district and city councils, they have no idea what the regional councils actually do or limited idea anyway.

And now, you know, if they if they're planning on standing at the next election, they're going to be taking on the responsibility for all of this work.

you know, here in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, just the cost to manage the catchment is about the same as the entire budget for Whakatane District Council, just for the catchment, you know, and the work that we do in the regional council.
