Good morning and welcome to the broadcast of Faith Mountain Ministries.

My name is Bill Vanderbush and I want to invite you today with me to turn in your Bibles to 2 Peter chapter 1.

I'm going to do so here in my dad's Bible which I have had with me by my nightstand for weeks now.

I just like it it's it's very comforting in the in the smell of the book in the sound that the pages make when you flip them like this i i love the fact that my dad when he was would turn pages in his Bible, would lick his thumb, and then he would move the page.

And so I can see the spaces in the sections where he read the most.

And wow, he read this Bible a lot, cover to cover, but especially in Matthew chapter 6.

And he really seemed to like 2 Peter chapter 1.

I do want to let you know that 2 Peter is the most contested book in the New Testament by far.

And by contested, I'm only talking about authorship.

Its place in the Scripture is a different question altogether.

That was never really seriously in doubt.

The church received it as Scripture.

Athanasius included it.

The councils of Laodicea and Hippo and Carthage listed it along with the other epistles.

It's in the Catholic Orthodox and Protestant canons.

So that is settled reception.

There's not an open vote as to whether or not it should be in the Bible.

It's included.

2 Peter is mystical.

There is a language in 2 Peter.

that he has, you know, maybe that he gained toward the end of his life that wasn't present early on.

Peter's pretty cut and dried.

He's kind of a black and white kind of fellow.

But when it comes to 2 Peter, there is mystical language here.

I want to show you what I mean by this in 2 Peter chapter 1, starting in verse 1.
