I love this question, and I love where you're coming from with this question, um, because I think that there are a lot of people who, because of their Jewish background and their Jewish education, there are questions that, that they feel like they want answered, and it's sort of like, how do I ask this? Because it seems like it's kind of the beginning.

And, um, and I wanted to put out there, even though this is kind of like, it's a podcast format, one time I, I answered this question for a family in our community, and I went over to their home, and I brought all of these books.

And so it was like answering this question about the Torah and the Talmud and all these different pieces, um, and I, and I brought literally a duffel bag full of Jewish books.

And so when you can have that sort of illustration, if anyone in the community is interested, I can come to your home and do this again too.

But for podcast format, um, this, and I s- I actually wanted to start with a, a Google AI overview because I thought this was, this was amazingly summed up and correct, which sometimes they're not, right?

So it says, "The Torah, Mishnah, and Gemara constitute the foundation of Jewish law and tradition, with the Mishnah and Gemara together forming the Talmud."

So the Mishnah is the canonized third-century compilation of oral laws, and the Gemara is the fifth-century commentary and analysis of the Mishnah.

The, the, uh, when we s- when we say, like, the sages or the rabbis, Jewish scholars, um, back in the day.

And y- so, and I brought a couple of examples of this and how the, some text and ideas go from Torah to Mishnah to Gemara.

Um, and in the, in the Mishnah, yeah, in the Mishnah, in the Gemara, there are names of the rabbis who, who said the thing.

Have you heard of the, the, the wayward and defiant stun- son, or the stubborn and rebellious son?

So this is, so this is Deuteronomy chapter 21, verses 18 through 21, and it, and it reads there, "If a man has a wayward and defiant son who does not heed his father or mother and does not obey them even after they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the public place of the comm- his community.
