So the Patterson Foundation's purpose statement says we strengthen people, organizations, and communities in ways that foster wide participation around shared quality of life aspirations.

You know, I know something, Deborah, that you talk a lot about is that organizations work well together when they share a common future.

when they share common values, when they share a common purpose, when they believe, in this case, you're a funder.

But actually, money is actually not at the core of what my understanding and experience with the Patterson Foundation has been.

You know, we're interested in how can we build the capabilities and capacities of people, communities, institutions, and the country to move forward in a way that actually we don't stay with them forever, that it's their capabilities, their capacities, their abilities to do things.

And I think, well, I know that the Institute shares that belief with the foundation.
