How would you compare? Because we actually have a few listeners from the UK.

How do you compare the building over there from building over here? Is it all much the same same or is it a bit different? There's certain aspects of it.

Over there, it's probably slightly more specialised.

So you do like what I was trained in is we used to cut and pitch roofs and we used to do some fancy timber work, but it was all roof orientated.

Right.

You kind

of specialise in it.

Yeah, that's it.

So I think over here as a builder stroke tradie, it is a bit more varied and it's a bit more fun as you do a bit of everything.

Yeah.

Whereas there, there's more specialised things.

Although you do get good at it, I feel it's a little bit more mundane, if you like, after you've been doing it for a while.

Yeah.

Yeah, so you get really, really good at that particular thing but it's like, yeah, you can get a bit of, it's kind of probably being like a plumber or a sparky or something, you just kind of do the same thing.

Pretty much, yeah, that's what we felt.

And over there our main work was just, you know, more straightforward houses whereas the last probably 10, 12 years over here I've been lucky enough to work on some of these sort of bigger ION jobs and, yeah, they're pretty spectacular.

Yeah.

Yeah, I was talking to a few builders over the years who's kind of saying that like a lot of the old boys are kind of concerned that like even now things are getting more specialised, you know, and the olden day where a builder could be an all-round builder, like he can – jump on a digger and he could like, you know, he could like finish, do the finishing details and then he can like, you know, pour some concrete and then he can, you know, like being a bit more of an all rounder sort of less and less as time's going on.

How do you, do you, is that kind of, I think

that's a really fair statement.

Uh, Like I probably feel that maybe in Auckland that might be happening a little bit more.

Yeah, the region is probably less.

Yeah, that's it.

And up here it maybe hasn't quite caught up.

Like the thing that's big at the moment up here is the pre-made houses that basically get made in a factory and then carted off to site.
