You kind of knew that guy was kind of shit, the builder? Or was it pretty much like your tutors that told you? Did you have a bit of a gut feel, these

guys? It sort of started dawning on me because we'd be doing night class and stuff.

We don't do it like that.

We haven't done that.

And then I sort of thought,

oh, maybe I'm

looking around as well.

Asked the other boys,

oh yeah, we do that.

Nothing worse than that.

Yeah, yeah.

So I sort of thought, okay, I've got to get out of here.

Yeah.

I mean, a lot of guys I find that come from the boat building background, like it's a bit of a different type of way of approaching it, right? Because you have to be very precise.

How did that kind of translate? The mentality.

Yeah.

It stays with you.

So with what we do now is I say to the guys, I'd rather you spend half an hour doing something right.

they'd bash bash get it up and then go back and have to chase that

right through the end which year did you you like cool i'm going to start you know calibre now yeah

croc overseas um yeah so um couldn't really stay on the boats an hospital for two or three months and then got home and thought okay What am I going to do? We went to the other training provider and said, can you guys give these kids some kind of commercial qualification? Obviously, it's not going to be an apprenticeship because they're still at school.

They flatly said to us, they can't.

There's no crossover between tertiary and trade.

So I approached Builders Academy, who I had an apprentice with anyway, and just said, will you guys do this? They went, absolutely.

We'll just change the rules.
