Most of what's in the pot doesn't look much like a leaf.
Bits of stalk, buds, a few pieces of root.
And then there's the one thing that does.
A proper leaf.
Dark green, with a serrated edge and a slightly crumpled look.
As if it were folded while still soft and never quite flattened out.
It's the most ordinary looking thing in the cup.
It's also the one doing most of the work.
Watch it darken as the water gets into it.
The green goes from dusty to deep.
Lift the cup and breathe it in.

A feeling of cold right at the front of the nose from a cup that's steaming.
