You see the check-ins, the glute shots, the ab photos in the mirror, the stage photos, um, all of the, like, X weeks out updates.
But there is also a version of prep that I really feel like doesn't get talked about, like, nearly enough, and it's the part where your body is adapting, your brain is literally changing, and your life, like, the focus of it really starts to narrow.
So I wanted to do an episode where we talk a little bit about bikini prep, like, contest prep in general, 'cause I feel like we just haven't touched on it in a while.
And through my years of coaching and, like, with my experience with new athletes, what I've noticed is that they come in with certain expectations.
Not everybody, like, not all of my athletes, but I've had several athletes who, like, come in as first-time competitors, and their expectations of what prep is are very different from, like, what they end up experiencing.
Um, because if you can have a little bit better of an idea of what you're signing up for and what you're walking into, I actually think it's going to make the experience and that excitement that much better.
At some point during your journey, you, you stop questioning if something is healthy, and you just kind of start to ask yourself, like, "Is this the most effective way?" So, like, low calories, high cardio, being tired all the time, you stop seeing that as an extreme.
And I think that that's where people can really lose themselves a little bit, because your standard, like, the life that you live, it shifts.
Your, your pro- So like, you're probably eating way less than you ever have before.
Um, you're doing more than you ever have, and instead of pulling back, you start to be like, "Oh, well, maybe I need to push harder." And that's not discipline.
Like, we've talked about this in previous episodes, but that's not always discipline.
Like, sometimes that's just being, like, you are so deep in prep that your perspective is off.
