Number one, maybe not a hot take at all, but Brianna Stewart and Aisha Wilson are the two best players in the world.
There was, I think, an interesting dialogue that started to bubble up during the FIBA World Cup.
Asia Wilson out of the World Cup with Team USA, rehabbing some back issues that have been persistent this year.
And in the void of the arguable best player in the world at this moment, you got Breanna Stewart reminding everybody that, that she also has a pretty reasonable claim to best player in the world.
And to watch Stewie start us off on, I believe, like 15 and 19 shooting, 34 points, 12 boards, and then to have Asia Wilson follow that up with a 38 and 16 on similar splits... four blocks to a two from three and only seven trips to the line.
Uh, yeah, man, I don't know if this is what we are going to get all the way to the WNBA finals, but I'll tell you, it was kind of refreshing to have, uh, in the midst of all of the new blood that's come into the league, not just Asia Wilson reigning at the top unopposed, but Brianna Stewart kind of coming back and reminding everybody that there is a reason that when she was drafted after four straight national titles at UConn, people called her the heir apparent.
I think when you have a best player in the world, the way Asia has claimed to right now, I think it can get sometimes a little boring if you don't have another player on the opposite side that is able to push things along.
And while I think Asia is on this sort of Jordan Bulls run over the last four years where it feels like there's just been unparalleled greatness on her end.
It has been cool to see Stewie not only remind the world that this is possible, but also not doing it in vain in the way that she did during last year's playoffs, right? Now we've got a lot of playoffs left.
But if it's going to be this from these two players through the entirety of these playoffs, and they get the help that they got yesterday, Asia, courtesy of Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray, Brianna Stewart, courtesy of Jonquil Jones and Leonie Fibich, and a really great defensive effort from this Liberty team, I wouldn't mind a Stugia final.
Dude, could you imagine? Could you imagine we run it back? I'm telling you, like...
They are not going to just allow these new players to come in and run over them.
