What Happens To Spirit Airlines' Fleet Now?

I'm James Pozzi, MRO Editor for the EMEA Region, and today we are taking another look at Spirit Airlines and the developments related to the defunct carrier's fleet and the ramifications for MRO.

Spirit Airlines of course ceased operations in early May this year after its attempts to secure additional financing collapsed, bringing an end to more than three decades of flying.

But while the airline has stopped operating, the story of its aircraft is far from over.

Spirit has already been significantly reducing its fleet before the shutdown, with aircraft being returned to lessors and placed into storage or marketed for sale.

Today, we are looking at where those are now.

what is happening to them in storage, and what the eventual redistribution of the fleet could mean for airlines, lessors, and factors such as the aftermarket.
