Well, I was born there, and from my earliest recollections, I remember being... very interested in the watching the horses and the cows and the men harvesting and i loved to along to do a thing of the shearers but father wouldn't let me much into the shed and i did do two or three sketches of the Shearers, but I just gave them to the Shearers.
Was there any history in your family of artistic interest? Did you have any brothers or sisters or parents interested in art?
They were all quite sane,
except me.

Actually, in 1937, the school at 215 George Street closed.
So I lost the big room.
And it was...
Up my place, it was not so... good to pose a model, a nude model.
So those two influences and gradually from this I painted, began to paint completely
abstract.
