Our first stop is Mindil Beach Sunset Market, 400 stalls spread across the sand, the smell of satay cooking and fresh barramundi hitting the grill, musicians and fortune tellers, and a man selling something he calls crocodile on a stick, which is presumably exactly that, a crocodile lollipop.
In the morning, we walk the esplanade as the sea breeze comes in off the harbor.
We spend the days wandering, eating, sipping, tropical warmth, music, art, and ocean.
But that wild north is calling, so on our third day we rise early and board a small plane bound for Arnhem Land.
