Welcome to Season One of Arkham Northside, a retrospective look at Arkham Horror, the Card Game. Today, we'll be taking Daisy Walker, the Librarian, through the Night of the Zealot, by herself.
[gentle piano music] It is late at night.
Daisy is holed up in her study, researching the bloody disappearances that have been taking place in the region.
A few hours into her research, she hears the sound of strange chanting coming from her parlor down the hall.
At the same time, she hears dirt churning as if something were digging beneath the floor.
As Daisy leaps to investigate, the door to her study vanishes before her eyes, leaving behind only solid wall.
Daisy is trapped inside her study until she can find another way out.
Daisy starts by going over what she knows.
She draws a card, takes out a magnifying glass and her old book of lore, and then investigates.
What's that with the rug? Before she can lift it, the first doom settles on the agenda, and obscuring fog blankets the room.
It's not a problem for Daisy.
She investigates again, then lifts the carpet.
[gentle piano music] Daisy notices that the edges of her newly purchased rug are tattered and bloodstained.
Finding this odd, she shifts the furniture and pulls it back, and to her surprise, she sees a door leading out of the study.
She slowly turns the knob, and the door swings open, revealing the hallway below.
Daisy jumps through the doorway, landing on her feet on soft dirt.
Up above, the door slams shut.
The smell of burning wood fills the narrow hall, intermingled with the scent of rot and decay.
A glowing barrier blocks her path to the parlor.
As Daisy moves towards it, intense heat forces her to back away.
Picking up a handful of dirt, she tosses it at the barrier and watches in horror as the dirt incinerates.
Perhaps there's something in the cellar or attic that can help.
[gentle piano music] With two actions left, she mulls descending into the cellar, where a ghoul might await, and decides against it.
That could actually kill her.
A second doom descends, and Daisy notices rotting remains on the stairs leading to the attic.
