So this movie was directed by John Harrison, and this was based on the screenplay by Michael McDowell.
This story follows Preston, a struggling artist who gets a call from his agent, Wyatt, who's at a local bar and has been waiting, like, half an hour.
And, uh, he gets kicked out, but a- another guy named Maddox, who's passed out, is left there to sleep for the night.
As he gets kicked out of the bar, he goes to the bartender, and his life changes forever when he has a terrifying encounter with a gargoyle creature.
He witnesses that creature murder his friend from the bar, the bartender.
Why do I know that at that point it's clear it's a gargoyle creature? To me-
Oh, you're right
...
it looked like a demon.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
At the end we find out it is a gargoyle, but they did, like, a pan over gargoyles when we're looking at the city.
But yeah, it looks some demon creature.
Yeah, and then that friend is Jare, who was killed in the alleyway.
And then the creature makes a bargain for his life, saying it will let him live if he never tells a living soul what he saw that night, and if he breaks his vow the creature will return for him.
Yeah.
And so he accepts this deal, and he flees.
Yeah, I...
Who wouldn't accept that deal?
Who...
Yeah, right.
[laughs] Exactly.
People are gonna think I'm crazy anyway.
Yeah, sure.
Just say yes.
[laughs]
