Let's review oral pathology.
First and foremost is the developing root, developing tooth.
You'll see structures like dental follicle which is on the top covering the new tooth, the apical papilla which is on the bottom, periapical follicle which is underneath the apical papilla and then at the very bottom is the bony crypt.
So the number one thing is you have to identify the shape of the dentine.
The dentine thickness is thicker here.
Lucency at the apex is lucent, not very much lucent as the dead tooth.
Laminated ura, if you trace it, you still feel the laminated ura.
It's kind of going along with the bony crypt and then the root at the end.
It's again like wide open root.
Now, on the other hand, the shape of the external root resorption doesn't look like the arrested root development.
The lucency at the apex of an arrested root development is higher than the developing root.
Bony crypt is intact for the normal root development, whereas there is no bony crypt.
Then the other thing is, broken or it can be, it's in arrested root development, you will see like a broken laminar dura in arrested root development.
Arrested root development, you basically look for the lucency and also the bony crypt.
Again, you will see bony crypt in arrested root development, but the thing is, you have to look at the amount of lucency.
So trace the laminar dura and trace the length of the root in arrested root development because in arrested root development, the laminar dura might be getting shorter and shorter and the lucency will develop like a drop of oil hanging out from the teeth.
again the thickness of the dentine might be thicker than the um thicker than the regular tooth and also the lucency is more darker and the um you will see the laminar euro that is broken on the other hand when you talk about external root resorption number one uh root resorption can you see it on a thick dentine or a thin dentine thin dentine um the pulp is thinner uh sorry still thick dentine thin pulp irregular root end that is when there is pathology associated with endo related infections you will see not the blunted one but irregular root and then when you see the blunted root end it doesn't need to have any pathology related the lamina dura will be intact so that is the difference between regular developing root second arrested root development third is the external root resorption which you basically look at the size of the pulp and the ending point of the root Now, next we are going to learn about ectopic eruption.
