This is one of the hardest truths I've ever had to accept. No one becomes a better person because of a drink. That doesn't mean people who drink are bad people. Far from it. It means alcohol never…

I touched on that earlier to say that lots of people in my life still drink, right? So it feels like I'm being sort of disrespectful or disparaging towards them.

They're just all caught in the same trap, you know, and it's not for me to tell them or force them.

out of that trap you know they have to come to it in their own space and time and whatnot but equally anyone that drinks and i know i'm going across the board with this so right now that's two point something four ish billion people in the middle lane that drink every single one of them all those two odd billion people become a lesser version of themselves when they drink And obviously so did I, right? And I have to own that, which hurts a bit.

And I think anyone, you know, if you're listening to this, you have to own that as well.

However, There's this like misconception that captures us because I think one of alcohol's greatest tricks is it makes you believe you are becoming a better person when you're under the influence of the very drug that is tricking you into believing that.

You go, oh no, I'm more like outgoing and fun and crazy and you know, whatever it might be and like relaxed and social or whatever your setup is, you tell yourself stories that are not true and it's the drug induced stories that give you that truth.

And if you were to see you through genuine alcohol-free eyes, would you be impressed or mortifyingly embarrassed? I would say 99.99% of the time you'd be mortifyingly embarrassed.

But whilst you're in your own body and your own mind, you can't see it, can you? Clearly, right? So you think, oh, I'm all sort of fun time and fab.

Yet if you were sitting next to you as an alcohol-free person, would you think you're all fun time and fab or just be a bit sad? and actually a bit annoying or over the top or over emotional or overbearing like all the things that tends to happen so many people which we love to deny that's not the truth that's not me oh that happens to everyone else you know I you know I'm a good drunk I'm a professional drinker I said all those things before but none of those things are true but when you're inside the jar you can't read the label you think they're true and they're not and here's I think a great example of that misconception.
