Time Spent - Or Wasted ?

How are you spending your time? It's one of the most precious commodities.

Culture would probably have you chasing after a dollar, uh, fiat currency or stuff.

But if you won't listen to me, how about Solomon? Why Solomon? Well, because he was, except for Jesus Christ, God made flesh, who obviously knows more.

But as far as men go, regular men, not God men, not God, not the God man, Jesus Christ, the smartest man that ever lived, the wisest man that ever lived, and the richest man as far as earthly wealth goes that ever lived.

Go look in the Old Testament about the amount of gold that he got paid to him just in tribute every year.

It's staggering.

He had a thousand wives and concubines combined.

He had incalculable wealth.

Whatever his eyes desired, he didn't refuse them, he said.

And what did he say about all that? "Vanity of vanity, all is vanity and grasping for the wind." It's also written, "Naked we came into this world and naked we're going out." Um, and we will die one day, all likelihood.

In the entire Bible, only two men that I'm aware of never died, Enoch and Elijah.

Elijah was taken up, and Enoch, it says, walked with God and was no more.

But ex- apart from that, everybody else has died that I'm aware of, uh, that's written about.

Even Jesus, he didn't stay dead.

He was resurrected, but he died.

Uh, chances are we're going to die, unless Jesus returns first and however your eschatology goes.

But in all likelihood, we're gonna die.

Naked we came into this world and naked we're going out of it.

Now, Solomon also wrote, "Nothing is better for a man than to eat and drink and enjoy the good of his labor." So enjoy the stuff while you have it.

Enjoy it.

Good things are a gift from God if you didn't get them with ill-gotten gain.

Then enjoy them, but realize their futility and their fleeting nature.
