I'd like to acknowledge that we're here on the unceded lands of the Kaurna people, and pay my respects to elders past, present, and emerging for sharing this beautiful landscape with us here, um, in the land of the big red kangaroo.

Uh, it is my delight to be here.

Uh, for those of you that don't know me, my name's Tansy Kirton.

I'm the Assistant Director of Artistic and Collection Programs here at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

I'm joined by a wonderful friend and colleague, uh, Dr. Zoe Frini, who is an artist, art historian, and educator based at Adelaide Central School of Art.

But I've known Zoe for ...

Where was ... only five minutes, but about 20 years.

So it's, [laughs] it's lovely to be here, and today we are here to talk during Adelaide Climate Action Week.

So we are gonna have a kind of a wide-ranging conversation about what are the connections between the environment, climate, the arts, and culture, how do artists convey their messages through art, and what are some of the things that we can learn or also take on board from the works of artists.

So Zoe, I guess I'd kind of like to start with that conversation.

We had a lovely chat yesterday, uh, about, you know, how ... what, what is the role of the artist in talking about some of these big issues in our world around us?
