After The Lights Go Out With Lee Hendrie

I know it's easy to say you should have could have would have but you should have said you know what

That was, you know, that was one of my

regrets.

Obviously, after all of it, I knew what I was going into because the worst thing was the following season, Stoke got promoted to the Premier League, which I'm like, do you know something? It was just

wrong choice.

You didn't sign for Stoke, you went through the Sheffield United stuff, you went from Derby to more or less Tamworth very quickly.

How difficult was that to drop down the leagues? Because when you play in the Premier League and you play at the top level, the goal is to be the best you possibly can, financial resources and stuff like that.

If you drop down the leagues, you're playing for the love of the game.

How difficult was that to go from where you were to where you ended up?

Well, I do love the game.

I love playing football.

That was me.

I knew I was always going to play with some of my pals and maybe my brother, who's a little bit younger than me.

But I knew at the end of my career, I was still going to play football, whether it be...

Over 35s beat, you know, non-league football.

But I did have that spell.

I went over to Indonesia where I played for a band on UFC and it was like...

I mean, it was ridiculous.

Ridiculous.

What I did going over there was...

It was a rogue league.

It was literally...

I got there and, I mean...

The pitches were horrendous.

No grass on the pitches.
