Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc is one of Zambia's most important companies – and a critical part of the infrastructure behind the region’s copper boom. It generates power, owns and operates…
Chipo MuwowoHost
Mutale, how, how would you describe what CEC is today and, you know, perhaps what do investors maybe misunderstand about the business?
So CEC today is, um, a regional energy infrastructure business, uh, with, uh, I must say, its roots are in Zambia.
So as a business, we own, we operate, uh, some of the critical transmission infrastructure that we have.
We secondly supply power to, uh, some of the region's largest operations, uh, from a mining perspective.
when you look at these things I've described, uh, these activities actually work together as an integrated platform, and that's really who CEC is.
Now, to your second point or second question, what I think, uh, may not fully be appreciated by the investors is the regional reach of the business on one end-
... and, uh, the strategic importance of, uh, of the infrastructure that CEC owns.
CEC is not a typical utility serving, uh, customers on the Copperbelt in Zambia.
So in, in summary, I would say that investors should think of the business, uh, beyond the traditional utility.
We, we're, we're sort of trying to build an energy infrastructure business that is positioned to sort of intersect the power, the mining, and, uh, the industrial growth.
